From Overthinking to Action: A Video Editor's Journey to Business Clarity [Client Case Study]
When Jessica first reached out about coaching, she was stuck in a familiar cycle many creative entrepreneurs know well - drowning in ideas but struggling to move forward. As an established video editor with ADHD, she had the talent and experience to succeed, but something was holding her back.
"I would start like, 'Okay, I'm gonna do this and I'm gonna get it done in two weeks, no problem.' And then I'd sit down and it's like... where do I start? I would forget all the little pieces that went along with it," Jessica recalls of her pre-coaching days.
The Breaking Point
The turning point came when Jessica found herself in an unstable work situation, getting paid late and feeling like she had no control. She knew she needed to fully step into her own business, but the path forward felt overwhelming.
"I was stuck on 'well, everyone says you need one signature service' - but that didn't work for being a video editor. It just didn't work for my brain," she explains.
After participating in one of my retreats, Jessica saw a different way forward. "In talking to you and the people you attracted to that retreat, it opened up all these options I didn't know were there. Having someone that could understand the way my brain works, and not feeling shame about any of the things I hadn't done yet, even though I had been in business for several years."
The Transformation: Beyond Just Business Strategy
Our work together focused on several key areas:
1. Building Confidence Through Clarity
Instead of forcing herself into a one-size-fits-all business model, we developed a suite of services that aligned with both her strengths and her clients' needs. The result? Jessica landed her largest monthly retainer client to date and achieved her highest revenue month ever in her business.
"You helped me see the transformation I was helping people get. I had struggled to put that into words before," she shares. "I'd never been so confident in what I offer until we really worked it out."
2. From Perfectionism to Progress
A major breakthrough came during our two-day VIP intensive, where we focused on launching her website - something she'd been procrastinating on for years.
"You pushed me to actually follow through with the 'done is better than perfect' mindset. And honestly, I now love my not-so-perfect website because it's perfect for where I'm at," Jessica says.
3. Balancing Business & Personal Goals
During our VIP intensive, we didn't just focus on business metrics. We talked about what success really means - including personal goals and relationships. One goal that emerged was taking an annual trip with her husband, something they hadn't done since before COVID.
"You told me that I also have to show my kids what a healthy relationship looks like, and that means taking time for ourselves," Jessica remembers. "I've had that in my head so much... and now we're actually making both family and couple trips happen."
4. ADHD-Friendly Accountability
Perhaps most importantly, our coaching relationship provided the flexible, understanding support Jessica needed to thrive.
"Having a coach who has ADHD means you get it. You understand the pitfalls to look out for, but you never make me feel ashamed of how I have to work," she explains. "The biggest impact has been the ability to pick the method that works for that month - whether it's calls, coworking sessions, or quick check-ins."
The Results
Since working together, Jessica has:
Achieved her highest revenue month ever in business
Launched her website and clearly defined her service offerings
Secured her highest-paying retainer client
Stopped buying endless courses and seeking outside employment
Developed confidence in her expertise and pricing
Created sustainable systems that work with her brain, not against it
Prioritized both business growth and personal relationships
Started planning both family vacations and couple getaways
Most tellingly, Jessica chose to continue our coaching relationship for a second year. "It was a no-brainer decision for me. I've already made so much progress in this last year with you that I want to see how much further I can go with someone who just gets my brain."
The Key Difference: Holistic Support That Adapts
What made this transformation possible? As Jessica puts it: "You were the first person who asked 'What are you looking for? What do you need? What's not working for you now?' Instead of trying to make me fit into a specific system, you helped me create one that actually works for me."
This approach extends beyond just business strategy to encompass the whole person - their goals, relationships, and overall life satisfaction. It's about building a business that supports your life, not the other way around.
